Lucas is a cellist based in Iowa whose work spans concert performance, chamber music, theater, sacred music, and special events.

Currently pursuing degrees in Cello Performance and Economics at the University of Iowa, he studies with Dr. Jamie Clark while performing with the University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra and the Mellophobia Trio.

His musical journey began in central Iowa with Alan Henson, and continued through years of study at the Preucil School of Music, where he developed a strong foundation in orchestral and chamber performance under the guidance of Dr. Laura Shaw. Along the way, he has participated in festivals throughout the United States and abroad, including performances in Germany, the Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Ascent International Cello Festival at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

As a performer, Lucas enjoys the variety that comes from working across musical settings. His experience includes orchestral concerts, chamber music, theatrical productions, weddings, sacred music, and university events. He has appeared in numerous musical theater productions, including repeated engagements with the American Gothic Performing Arts Festival, and served as the solo cellist for the University of Iowa Theater production of Argonautika.

Whether performing for an audience of hundreds or contributing to an intimate chamber ensemble, Lucas values careful preparation, thoughtful collaboration, and meaningful audience experience.
